The lamb in the sauce was great too but I felt like it needed a side of rice to soak up all the sauce. We both had Adana for the main course 1 lamb, 1 chicken and were very happy with them. All three of us are fans of Turkish food in fact one of us even lived in Turkey for several years and because we eat it often enough that we are familiar with what to order, and how the dishes should taste. We picked a pistachio pastry for dessert but preferred the wonderful coconut custard pudding brought out for us on the house!! The restaurant also offers a variety of shish kebabs and adana dishes that come served with hot yogurt sauce and warm toasted bread. Despite being a restaurant in an area filled with families, they seemed nonplussed about the stroller. Absolutely nothing to critique or complain about.
Very impressed with Agora and the menu was massive. Sip Sak, Uskudar Turkish Restaurant Named for a neighborhood in Istanbul, is a small restaurant that is a hit with Upper East Side families. It's no secret Turkish cuisine is among the best in the world. I did try all the other dishes that we ordered. You can also search near a city, place, or address instead.
I would come back for their lunch special. Never mind that a couple was at one of the tables finishing up. Uskudar is one of the best neighborhood place offering high quality and very genuine Turkish, Mediterranean food. Order at table next to ours also had issues with their order. Definitely the place to go when in the upper east side. I've eaten there before; it's always good.
Mostly byob I think sunday through thursday. My friends and I think Uskudar is one of the best values in dining in the city plus the special 12 noon - 4 pm menu is good all 7 days of the week. You can also search near a city, place, or address instead. The menu is categorically organized so you can easily pick your desired meal. The food itself was fair.
Once inside, it was very warm and comfy. Now more is coming back: I ordered lamb kebab, delicious and especially appreciated because I no longer eat red meat except on special occasions. With the abundance of fresh vegetables served with every dish at Turkish Cuisine, you really cannot go wrong. Perfectly justified 5 stars with no reservation! The hummus and Babaghanoush were excellent, as was the pide bread. For dessert try the kazandibi, a pan fried milk pudding served with a touch of cinnamon. Grilled Octopus Salad has a solid portion of grilled octopus in it, and the dressing was light and tart in a perfect way.
Celebrating the birthday of a wonderful man whose company I've enjoyed for more than 50 years was very special for me; I wish his special day had been even more special for him. The donor kebabs are highly sought after, as is the Turkish coffee for lunch. From fully satisfying Turkish seafood, healthy yet savory salads and delicious chicken to exquisite desserts and luscious chef specials, we guarantee that you and your guests will enjoy every bite of the food. We had a wonderful time and a great meal! You can also search near a city, place, or address instead. There were 3 round tables and a small 4 top available when we arrived - early for our reservation.
If not, read on for more instructions. I requested one of the round tables and was told they were for tales larger than 4. Everything is so fresh and tasty. The meals were delicious and plentiful. I don't understand why I won't be getting points for this reservation. So, what are you waiting for? And for a full Turkish cuisine experience, order the mixed grill kebab. We had to flag somebody else to get a water refill.
Our server Suzy was terrific. We truly enjoyed every bite. Another must-try is the shepherd salad, a cucumber, tomato, green pepper, and red onion mixture tossed with fresh parsley and extra virgin olive oil. I hope things will improve. But the great food made up for it and we had a great evening! The beer was poured into my glass without asking my preference. The seating is a little close and the service is a little slow, but the waiting staff was very friendly, and I will definitely be back. Selected based on other reviews, looking for non-tourist local fare.
Dinner dishes are also easy on your wallet; so Uskudar is a must-try. Every time someone opened the door a gust of wind enveloped us all and made our food get cold really quickly. My wife really enjoyed the lamb chops special. All ok if while we were there, they proceeded to seat parties of 4 at the round tables. I can tell that my meals have just been prepared for me. Once you step foot in this place you will feel that you have been transported direct to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. We really enjoy this place, but if we go back we will make sure not to have this server again.
Does have outside seating in the summer. The waitstaff are low on energy and disinterested. Once you step foot in this place you will feel that you have been transported direct to the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul. Wanting to stay local, and within walking distance of our place, for a dinner with the girls, my friends and I decided to try out Agora Turkish Restaurant. Hungry for an Authentic Turkish Meal? Gyro Doner , less impressive, but still very good. Every single item we ordered here, from the appetizers Shepard's salad, hummus, babaghanoush to our entrees lamb adana and lamb shish were delicious! If you're still having trouble, check out. The selection of appetizers includes favorites like hummus and ezme, a spicy tomato and pepper salad.
